2022, performance, variable dimensions
The work takes inspiration from Kwame Nkrumah’s “Consciencism. Philosophy and Ideology for Decolonization”, in a contemporary post-human horizon.

The artwork If and only If is inspired by “Consciencism. Philosophy and Ideology for Decolonisation” by Kwame Nkrumah (second edition, 1970). Excerpts from the text, a kind of score, are read at the microphone with the textile work De-familiarised Family in the background.
The theme is that of a virtuous union in the making, the generative fruit of a continuous exchange, only possible by increasing positive actions and decreasing negative ones.
The formula and phrases taken from the text, as emphasised during the performance, are understood not only in the horizon of modern post-colonialism, but in the contemporary posthuman perspective, a transpecific immanence as envisaged by Rosi Braidotti.
