By questioning the capitalistic domain, Rebecca De Marchi’s artistic practice is enquiring about the epistemological issue of how human beings make experience and knowledge of the Earth and, consequently, how worlds are conceived, used and inhabited. A research inlaid in a decolonial and posthuman perspective analysing academic and spiritual-material cultures. In this scenario, the fold notion, which Gilles Deleuze elaborated in relation to Leibniz and incompossible worlds, acquires a central role in its potentiality of letting arise counter possible sensible worlds in common on a planetary scale, introducing by care tiny change of state.

‘To discover new ways of folding’, the research is carried on at Savannah Center for Contemporary Art in Tamale, Ghana, on the contradiction of modernity and the alive traditions; at the M-Bassy in Hamburg and Leibniz-Archive in Hannover on the manuscript of the philosopher; in collaboration with Kwame Nkrumah University (KNUST) in Kumasi on the thought of brutalism, animism and technology as well as aesthetics and politics elaborated respectively by Achille Mbembe and Jacques Rancière; and with Associazione Isole on sketching and collecting this experience in a small publication.

During the residency at KNUST, Kumasi, an Art Talk was held with Nigerian historian Toyin Falola and at the Nubuke Foundation in Wa with, among others, anthropologist Alexis Tengan. The publication was previewed in Rome at the IUNO Association in the presence of art historian Costanza Meli, sociologist Monica Massari and the artist.
